You're still cool, though, Ricky Romero. |
At 6'7" and 260 lbs, Mariner's rookie starter Michael Pineda is pretty much the biggest dude you have ever seen. There's been a lot of buzz about this guy, and unfortunately I am here to tell you that at least some of that is warranted, because he made the Blue Jays look pretty lame last night. Corey Patterson and the DHing E5 had a couple of hits each, and Bautista got one through, too, but other than that: not cool, Blue Jays, not cool. Adam Lind is now 0 for his last nine at-bats, for those of you keeping track (it can't be just me). Ricky Romero only allowed two earned runs on five hits in the eight innings he pitched, but the unearned run (the result of an Edwin Encarnacion from the arm of Jayson Nix, if you follow) was, alas, the difference.
So a pretty dreadful 1-4 west-coast road trip so far, but if the Blue Jays can salvage today's getaway game -- and then beat up on Boston before coming home to crush the Yankees, obviously -- all will be forgiven.

Today was a good day
ReplyDeleteIt was better!
ReplyDeleteA's won (and in the process put the Royals firmly in 2nd place in the AL Central, thank you for that, A's), Tigers beat the god damn Rangers (whattup Neil), Jays won and on top of the Angels beat the Indians which again improves the chances of the Royals somehow miraculously being within a few games of 1st in their division.
ReplyDeleteBut man, all our teams won on the same day and the feelings that elicited took a sort of trying day at work to a day where I came home in a stellar mood.
This baseball, I'm almost a little bitter I went this long without embracing it, you know?
