Blue Jays 8, Athletics 4: Brett Lawrie's Grand Slam Was Arguably the Coolest Part of This

Through five-and-a-half innings, it looked like the Blue Jays were going waste a perfectly fine debut by twenty-one-year-old Henderson Alvarez. Fortunately for all concerned, Brett Lawrie (also 21) launched a grand slam over the left field wall in the home half of the sixth. There was, as you might expect, much rejoicing, and Lawrie was all fired up in the mookiest of mook ways in the dugout, but you can't really be like "act like you've done this before" when he has literally never done this before, right? Curtain call and everything, man, it was a scene. Later, the benches cleared when Jordan Norberto threw at Yunel Escobar, and while nothing else came of it, it was just like, baseball is awesome.
