Yeah, I realize that the above run represented just one of the six that the Mets lost by, but the beauty of a five-year swoon is that fans have become as skilled at working in excuses as tailors work in fine linens and silks. Such a ridiculous call turned the Mets completely off to the idea of playing baseball for the rest of the evening, especially against one so dominant as Clayton Kershaw, so, in protest, they left behind a team of crudely painted scarecrows while they got an early start on their trip up the coast to San Francisco.
