Honestly, I simply googled "Old English D" in the hopes that I could swipe some clever bastardization of the Tigers logo and then, uh, well . . . that happened. I didn't choose it. It chose me.
Neil, I will share something hilariously embarrassing with you - in college I had a "rap" group with a dude called Skool of D-opology, and we bought matching Tigers fitted hats with the old school D in orange, and I got "Ned Wreck" embroidered on mine, and he got "Fly Child" embroidered on his. We were wack as fuck. Still it was a nice hat. I just didn't have any orange sneakers to go with it.
