Phillies 8, Mets 2: Just When I Thought a Sweep was Possible, LOL Miguel Batista

'Hey, don't look at me."

Having gone into today's game expecting a massacre of Mel Rojas-like proportions, I was pleasantly surprised by Mike Pelfrey's final line, as he went six innings allowing just one run.  It is only fitting that in a Pelfrey game a pitcher would give up a few runs, than an error would exacerbate the situation so that MORE runs crossed the plate, but today it was the crap combo of Ramon Ramirez, Manny Acosta and Miguel Batista that allowed things to get out of hand in the first real stinker the bullpen had in the season.

BRIGHT SPOTS:  Ike Davis busting out of his power slump with his first homer and multi-hit game of the season.  If he can get things going then this lineup is looking pretty good from top to bottom.

Also, making Jonathan Papelbon throw almost 30 pitches as he struggled to protect a 6-run lead was pretty great, as was Pelfrey who didn't fall apart after allowing a run in the first, and worked through jams all day, something he definitely is terrible at.  So, we're at 6-3 with series wins over the two teams picked to win the division and a 1-2 series against the team picked to surpass the Mets before the season.  Up next it's onto Atlanta to see is some of that opening week magic can return followed by a homestand against the Giants and Marlins.
