Mets 6, Braves 2 - Ain't No Thing

Baseball's a game of nine innings with countless pitches and swings, but here are the two images you need to see from tonight's game to see how it went.

This is Jason Bay, and readers with sharp eyes might be able to spot a ball nestled snugly in his glove, a ball that, at first, seemed ticketed by Jack Wilson for the seats, which would have been a two-run shot to give the Braves a 3-1 lead, but somehow Bay was able to haul it back in.  Wilson missed it by that much.

Ike Davis did NOT miss, and he crushed this Tommy Hanson curveball, which I believe was about the 87th of the at-bat, deep into the right field seats to give the Mets a 4-1 lead in the sixth. The book in Ike for the early season has been to feed him a steady diet of breaking stuff low, but he's been adjusting and heating up, as evidenced by this being his second straight game with a dinger.  He clearly was looking for Hanson's shenanigans and he went down and got all of it.

Dillon Gee was brilliant, pitching seven innings of four-hit ball, bouncing back nicely from his first start of the year, an uneven effort against Washington.  Now the Mets have won all four series openers they've played this year, and are off to a 7-3 start, which is the second-best in franchise history.  Johan tomorrow!  Should be pretty great!
