Giants Fall to Diamondbacks, 7-2

I'd made my peace with this season a few games ago, and last night's game will still keep me happy and warm for a good long while. So regardless of what happens from here on out, it's real unlikely that the Giants will make the postseason (practically a certainty now with the D-Backs sporting a magic number of 18). I'm fine with that. There's a great sparkly trophy and fancy jersey patches that indicate something fabulous happened not too long ago, and 2012 can only get better. I think that's awesome.

Tim Lincecum didn't have a great game, and the Snakes managed to get lucky on BABIP and take advantage of mistakes while the Giants didn't get lucky breaks but still managed to get two runs against Arizona's ace. That's something. Beltran had another perfect game, going 3-for-3 with a walk, although he did manage to kill a rally by attempting to go from first to second on a medium-deep sac fly.

This was one hell of a season. Seriously. The Giants had a historically injured team, a historically awful offense, and still managed to stay in first place for much of the season, lead the league in walk-off wins, and remain competitive right to the bitter end. It was a ton of fun. A TON of fun. It was also brutally awful at times, but I think things are looking up. It's the calm one must feel before one drowns. So peaceful.
