86-62

A little bit of perspective on how good Justin Verlander has been this season . . .

His line against the White Sox on Tuesday: 7IP 6H 0R 0ER 2BB 6K

Sounds good, right? Well, here's the thing - that was a slightly below average start for Verlander this season. His WHIP for that game? 1.14 His WHIP for the season? 0.92.

And you could tell, just watching, that he didn't have his best stuff. He got in a couple of jams, he didn't quite have the same control he normally has, and he generally looked like he was laboring a bit. And yet, this was his line: 7IP 6H 0R 0ER 2BB 6K

And there you have it.
