2022 Game One-Hundred-Twenty-Seven: Blue Jays 5, Cubs 4 (F/11)

a wonderful scene except for those uniforms

The Blue Jays have actually done reasonably well in extra-inning games this season, but nevertheless I remain convinced that every game that goes into the tenth is an automatic loss, no matter how often I am disproven. Danny Jansen's eleventh-inning walk-off single, which "plated" the faster-than-you-might-think Matt Chapman, was another blow to this core belief of mine. It was, we should note, the fourth run he drove in on the night, what with the three-run home run of several innings previous. Hey also, do you know who was utterly nails in two innings of work, indeed the final two innings of the whole entire game? That's right, Yimi Garcia, who joined Romano, Cimber, Bass, and Mayza in scoreless relief of José Berríos, who, for his part, pitched into the sixth but gave up four runs on ten hits (a lot of soft contact, in fairness -- he got BABIP'd, as much as anything). Altogether, quite a night!
