why baseball is the game of the nerds

This was in my morning paper, written by Tom Boswell (the dad from Happy Days) about this year's World Series...

The best World Series develop their themes and isolate unexpected key protagonists as they progress organically.
And sadly enough, that makes sense to me - even though there's like three "intellectual douchebag" red flags contained within. Baseball truly is the ultimate sport for wasted genius.

  1. I loathe the figurative sense of the word "organic" he is using here but even having an opinion on that particular use of "organic" makes me even worse than tom boswell in some sense (though I am plainly his better in most respects)

    also you are right

  2. also have you ever thought about how they should actually call it the world sequence? I know I have.

  3. that use of "organic" is a huge pet peeve of mine, which of course I did not bring up for the reasons you mention.
as for your second comment, that's what I'll call it from now on.
