2021 Game One-Thirty-One: Orioles 4, Blue Jays 2

For sure a drag how this one ended
but I am really like the beard still

Despite throwing a tonne of pitches in the first inning (I think it was twenty-eight!), Hyun-Jin Ryu settled in tremendously and found himself two outs into the sixth with a no-hitter still very much intact, sitting on a 1-0 lead thanks to a home run from Ryu's catcher-pal Danny Jansen (let us welcome him back from the injured list and everything). Things looked pretty rosy! Then it went double, single, walk, double, so that's three runs on four batters with two outs in the sixth before Cimber came in and struck out Severino to end the inning. After Ryu hadn't allowed a hit all night. Brutal! And yet Boethius is like, "well there you go," an indeed here we are. Vladdy hit his thirty-ninth home run of the season (his third in two games!) to make it 3-2 headed to the seventh, but Cimber walked Mateo, threw away a pick-off attempt, and gave up a single to Jahmai Jones, so that's 4-2. Vladdy lined out with two on and two out in the seventh, and that was pretty much that. What! A! Drag! The Red Sox lost, so it's not as bad as it could have been, but I think I saw that the Red Sox are on a 12-16 run -- we really could have made up some ground these last few weeks, couldn't we('ve)? I mean more so? What a funny year: when we hit, we weren't pitching, and now that we're pitching, we're not hitting. But hey that's baseball! And now it is time for September baseball, specifically, with the Blue Jays still at least somewhat in "the conversation" as regards the final American League Wild Card spot (they are always in "the conversation" in terms of me speaking with regard to my interests). I'll take it!
