Yankees 8, Blue Jays 3: Honestly, Though, Great Job Lately, Guys

 

Brendon Little, much like myself, regrets the seventh-inning dinger

José Soriano was good, not great, leaving the game in the sixth having allowed just two runs (that's good!) but with the bases loaded and nobody out (oh no). Braydon Fisher came into a tough spot (as tough a spot as exists, really), got two quick outs, but things unraveled a little from there not just for him, but for all subsequent Blue Jays relievers on the day, too. And so we end this uncommonly tough two-week, thirteen-game stretch against the top three teams in the league with an eight-and-five mark, a result we can only characterize as super successful, bordering, indeed, on super duper successful (nine-and-four, I think, would have been unambiguously super duper). Checking in again on the (Home Hardware) out-of-town scoreboard, depending on how things shake out later this afternoon, it appears as though we will be entering the final thirty games of the season a-game-and-a-half out of the final playoff spot, with nary a game remaining against a team with a record at or above .500 (ours isn't either, so it seems only fair!). What I am hoping for as this season nears its end is the same thing I'm hoping for as every season does so, and it is that we might still be in the mix in that last week and, if at all possible, that last weekend. It is by no means unthinkable yet! It remains yet thinkable!
