A loss, certainly, but for a bullpen day anchored by Spencer "Big Spaghetti" Arrighetti vs. AL Cy Young favourite Cam Schlittler, not that bad, really? In fact, these recently scrappy Blue Jays actually outhit the Yankees nine to four, although, regrettably, one of those few four Yankee hits was a towering two-run homer just inside the right-field pole struck by the also towering Spencer Jones (he's six-foot-seven!). But for our part, Brett Bateman had three hits (single, double, triple); Jésus Sanchez, safely tucked away in the DH spot, had a pair; and Alejandro Kirk remains one of the best hitters in the league since the All-Star break with another hit and two further walks. Would you like to score more than a single run off of nine hits? Sure you would! And usually it would be no trouble at all, really. But these things happen. Eleven games into our Thirteen Games of Doom, we're at seven and four now, with Cease and Soriano our scheduled starters to wrap up this long stretch against the top teams in the league. I'm felling pretty good!
