| well said, Trey Yesavage; well said |
On a day that saw Dylan Cease sent to the fifteen-day Injured List, Vladdy out of the lineup for a day as a precautionary measure, the desperately slumping Davis Schneider sadly sent to Buffalo to make room for Nathan Lukes' return (from a first-pitch World Series Game Five home run to this [a brutal game, this]), and eleven-year minor-leaguer Tanner Andrews added to the bullpen (he pitched an inning, too! good for him!), the Blue Jays managed plenty of traffic but somehow just the one run against generally underperforming lefty junk-baller (you're not going to believe this) Janson Junk in his five innings of several-hit baseball. Sure, Ernie Clement added a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth, but this followed the three runs (I initially mistyped this as "funs," but they weren't fun at all) directly attributable to two distinct Yohendrick PiƱango misplays in the top of that same inning (the first one was way worse than the second, but the second felt worse than it was on account of the first!). The roof was open for the first time this season (kind of late! strange spring!), and that usually goes a long way towards pleasantness, but there are limits to what can be achieved along that specific pleasantness path. Onwards, I suppose! Tomorrow looks like a bullpen day, but I say that with neither dread nor resignation, but rather with anticipation, in that I think they are neat.
