| which of the chains would you say *mostly* did it, though |
Aside from the loveable Jésus Sanchez lightly injuring himself uponst one of his several chains whilst attempting a thoroughly unsuccessful diving catch (when I raised my admittedly speculative chain-based diagnosis on r/baseball—a diagnosis later literally confirmed by no less an authority than manager John Schneider himself—I was downvoted, if you can believe it), this game held nothing but delight for the Blue Jays enthusiast. It's odd that the first run of this true young-lions pitcher's duel (Trey Yesavage [ERA 1.07] on our side, Cam Schlittler [ERA 1.80] on the Yankees') would come in on a seventh-inning bases-loaded walk, but Andrés Giménez really outdid himself with an eleven-pitch plate-appearance of quality and veteran wile (he plays older than twenty-seven, wouldn't you agree?) to work the RBI BB. Vladdy sac-flied Brandon Valenzuela home that selfsame inning, and though Louis Varland very uncharacteristically allowed a run in the ninth (probably surprised him as much as it did us), he allowed none further, and so the Fluharty to Hoffman (there you go! there you go!) to Rogers to Varland suite of relievers can only be said to have done A Really Good job. Another one-run game! This Yankee Stadium series has been extra good so far. We really should do this more often.
