Atlanta 7, Toronto 3: "Outside [Of A Playoff Position] Is Back To What It Was" (Drake Reference)

he is, alas, in there

That all seven Atlanta runs on the night—all seven!—came with two outs felt less like bad luck as regards sequencing and more like the unfolding of some very specific low-key curse, a mild dark enchantment (inflict ill-timed runs [1d4]). True to form, Patrick Corbin did indeed give us five innings, but this time four runs alongside (or indeed within) them; the three-run home run Adam Macko surrendered to Ozzie Albies in the seventh was really the kicker, though. And what of our own dingers, those struck by first Nathan Lukes, and then Brandon Valenzuela? Solo shots, unfortunately. Less good. And so it is a series loss already against the best team in baseball—no shame in that, obviously—with one more still to go, a game in which we will run our bullpen out there (so far I know [I don't think I missed spot-starter news]) while Atlanta opts for Chris Sale, who has sneakily and on the sly crafted an entirely plausible Hall-of-Fame career whilst many of us were engaged in our own affairs and paid him little mind. This has been our folly, or at least an aspect of our folly.
